Private Equity Charges Ahead Into Energy Sector

Power Couple Make Energy Bid

KKR and Energy Capital Partners have closed one of the year's biggest buyouts: DCC Energy, for £5.75 billion.

KKR and Energy Capital Partners have flicked the switch on one of the year's biggest buyouts, agreeing a £5.75 billion takeover of DCC Energy after months of pursuit and a series of improved offers.

The deal, backed by DCC's board, values the business at up to £67.97 per share, including a potential additional payment linked to the sale of its Nexora technology division.

The acquisition gives the private equity duo control of a major international energy distributor with operations spanning liquid gas, biofuels and renewable energy, while also marking another high-profile public company heading into private ownership. For KKR and ECP, this wasn't just another transaction, it was a full-blown power grab, securing a strategic energy platform with plenty of fuel left in the tank.
