Going for Gold

Goldman Sachs strikes gold on West Street, raising $11.7B across its latest private equity funds, including $9.6B for its flagship fund.

The prospectors have struck gold on West Street, with Goldman Sachs Alternatives pulling in $11.7 billion across its latest private equity vehicles. The haul includes $9.6 billion for its flagship West Street Capital Partners IX, alongside more than $1.6 billion for its new Asia-focused strategy and $500 million for co-investment vehicles. Capital has come from institutional and high-net-worth investors across North America, Europe and the Middle East, with Goldman Sachs and its employees also making significant commitments. More than a third of the flagship fund is already deployed, targeting predominantly control investments in upper-middle-market businesses. “Our deep bench of experts and advisors is also equipped with the tools and resources needed to help portfolio companies navigate the ongoing AI transformation and scale,” said Michael Bruun, global co-head of Private Equity within Goldman Sachs Alternatives. With $11.7 billion now in the pan and plenty more capital behind it, West Street looks to have found a particularly rich seam.
