WovenEarth Ventures is weaving an impressive spell around Cleantech, closing its second fund at $155 million in expectation that the sector’s next act can deliver both environmental impact and serious investment returns. The Palo Alto firm now manages more than $330 million and plans to back more than 250 early-stage companies through a mix of fund commitments and co-investments, targeting everything from geothermal and battery storage to critical minerals, robotics and software. With seven fund commitments and 20 co-investments already made, WovenEarth is betting that Cleantech 2.0 is less about saving the planet for its own sake and more about backing the technologies needed to power a more electrified, resilient economy. This is no loose thread of an investment thesis.
